Realistically, they'd hope for an Ashes series in Australia where they retain a possibility to secure the famous trophy following the initial matches.

This is not the case this time, though, after Australia's crushing 82-run win in Adelaide left the home side 3-0 up for the fourth straight contest on home turf.

England's famous supporters' group, the vocal contingent, have a large group traveling for the concluding fixtures in the SCG and MCG.

There are also organized trips who will celebrate the holidays down under, as well as loved ones planning a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Fans with Booked Tickets

A group of four supporters are among those affected.

The four siblings had their itineraries and entry credentials arranged for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "well ahead of time", anticipating a rare England series success.

Instead, they have watched Australia defeat England convincingly in just 11 days from their house in their hometown.

"People in the office has been giving me grief that the series is done for the last two weeks," commented one sibling.

"Our expectation had been that we would have a meaningful contest by the time we arrived."

Fading Positivity

There was plenty of positivity concerning a potential victory of securing a first win in 15 years for a triumph on Australian soil ahead of the tour.

Yet now they are facing the prospect of extending their winless run in the country to 19 games when the fourth Test gets under way in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

Ben Stokes' side - and their followers - will be desperate to avoid a dreaded 5-0 scoreline.

Alex said the "excitement and fun" of head coach the positive style of play in recent years had "reinvigorated" the five-day game for England fans.

Yet the fans said they had realistic outlooks for the final two games - and all they are asking for from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Commentators consistently alludes to it, but it all is about fortitude. 'Bazball' has been become a phrase now that is just, like, impractical batting," commented another sibling.

"Over the course of five days, you should dig in. Playing at deliveries 'wide of off stump has never featured in the fundamentals, and that is primarily due to the top order."

Looking Ahead

Prompted about he believed England will triumph in a Test in the current series, one fan responded: "The evidence suggests the Aussies are just too good right now."

"Necessarily, there must be several individuals that stands up for England and makes a big impact."

Despite the scoreline, the siblings are still looking forward to the trip.

"It will be a fantastic experience anyway," added another sibling. "We have to go with that mindset."

"Of course, it's a let-down we don't have more to play for, but we have invested a significant amount as it is."

"We'll enjoy having Christmas and New Year out there. It is also a new experience for us away from home over Christmas."

A schoolteacher, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her Christmas holidays.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to rely on," she finished.
